Hawaiian Lomi Lomi Bodywork
Lomi Lomi is a traditional Hawaiian healing practice (bodywork) often described as a "loving touch" massage.Lomi-Lomi has its own set of ritual vocabulary in Hawai’ian which include prayer (pule), spiritual energy and personal power (mana), and breath of life (aloha). A spiritual translation could be “to turn or shift”, referring to the massage as a physical change that turns over a new leaf, by ridding toxins and old material from the body.
It uses deeplong, flowing, wave-like strokes, primarily with forearms, elbows and hands, to harmonize the body, mind, and spirit. This holistic approach restores full body tension, improves circulation, and promotes deep relaxation, rather than only focusing on isolated muscles.
Full body Lomi Lomi techniques often involves working different parts of the body simultaneously, switching in between different pressure of the tissues, while working on all the layers of the body; (fascia, lymph, muscles, organs etc) which helps the mind& body to fully let go and drop in to a trance like state, letting the nervous system relax and the body becomes more responsive to change. It is designed to be ceremonial journey back to balance and wholeness; body-mind & spirit
